Vacations Release First Track from Collaborative Friends EP
If October wasn’t exciting enough already for our local scene, this should do the trick.
Vacation’s Friends project has been in the works for around five months, and it’s now manifesting itself in the form of a collaborative 4 track EP. There’s going to be a new banger uploaded on No-Fi Record’s Bandcamp and Vacation’s Soundcloud every Friday over October, with sneak previews on the Vacations Facebook and Instagram pages every Monday. Each song features a different artist, the first drop giving centre stage to Newcastle musician Nate Delizzotti’s H. Ford Escort moniker. It’s titled Be There, and it’s a jangly lo-fi trip with twangy guitars and whirring, droning synths. If you’re a Newcastle local, and this piece sounds familiar to you, it’s because Vacations have been performing this piece live for a few months now; it’s totally thrilling to see how fantastic the recorded version has turned out.
The next three releases are going to include talent sourced from as nearby as the Central Coast, and as far flung as the USA. Vacation’s Campbell Burns mentioned, “each track isn’t going to be radically different — they fit together as a collection of songs that have a Vacations vibe, but I feel as if each one could stand on it’s own with the flavour each artist brings as well”. If this first upload is an indication of the rest of the tracks’ quality, it seems like it’s definitely worth to stay tuned in on this project. Check it out.
