Brisbane’s Must Sees 22nd – 29th September

Wildlife: Zefereli and Cassette Cathedral @ The Zoo, 22nd September

The brainchild of Bluebeard Music, Wildlife is the latest club night to hit Brizzy like a train filled with cheap drinks. Happening every Thursday night for the foreseeable future, the night specialises in bringing two of Brisbane’s best and brightest before your very eyes, complimented by ridiculously affordable beers and a super low entry fee – a student’s dream. This week, you’ll witness Zefereli and Cassette Cathedral. The former, the project of the Cairos alum Alistair Richardson and songstress Clea, and the latter – syrupy shoegaze. It’ll be nice. Price: $5

These Guy @ Barbara, 22nd September

Having been relatively quiet since they released their June debut LP, Lunchbox, the 1980s vibe-lassoers are making their return to the Brisbane public at everyone’s favourite bar, Barbara. Playing a hot set of 60 minutes, they will make you smile, make you laugh, make you cry, make you remember the good times, make you remember the bad times, make you cry, then make you remember the good times and make you smile. Price: Free

Northeast Party House @ The Triffid, 23rd September

The band have just released their shit-hot LP, DARE, which is a party from start to finish, and the NPH boys are making their way up to Briz and bringing the good times with them. Notorious for painfully infectious groove-soaked bangers that make you want to dance and punch yourself in the throat at the same time, this is going to be a weird night. Joined by two-piece thrashy rockbodies Polish Club and DJ legends, Twinsy, the night will be opened up by local weirdos, Max Chillen and the Kerbside Collective. See you there. Price: $30 + BF / $35 at door

LOADED: Guantanamo Baywatch, Pop Cult, Concrete Surfers @ The Foundry, 23rd September

It’s that time of the month again! This time around, American beach-goth legends, Guantanamo Baywatch will be making their way to Olde Brisbane Towne to flood the Foundry with their off-kilter brand of surf-rock – a mess of Link Wray guitar, Surfaris drumming complimented by the Growlers-esque wailing vocals. They will be joined by Sunshine Coast flower-power blokey babes Pop Cult and long-haired yahoos, Concrete Surfers, as well as a no-doubt amateurish at best DJ set from local weirdo, Max Chillen. Don’t miss this one! Price: $15 + BF

Wildlife: Max Chillen and the Kerbside Collective and Goodbye Moon @ The Zoo, 29th September

Remember what I said about Wildlife earlier? Yes? Okay, good – it still applies. Also, remember when I mentioned Max Chillen (and the Kerbside Collective)? Well, they’re putting on a show. “A show?” you say? Yeah. I don’t know how more direct I can be. MCKC will be bringing the sadness to the Zoo with their good friends (and yours!) alt rnb superstars, Goodbye Moon. Cool side-note: Tim of Goodbye Moon is now MCKC’s bassist. Double-shot of Timbo? Sign me up. Okay, yeah – see you there maybe?  Price: $5
