The Brightside hosts Battle of the Bands
The Brightside is currently hosting Homegrown Battle of the Bands. The competition, which began on July 15th, provides a platform for local soloists and bands of all styles and genres to present their original material and compete for the highly coveted top spot and an exciting pool of prizes.
The prizes up for grabs include the opportunity to record and mix with Miro Mackie at Plutonium Studios, mastering by Domc Mastering, single service by Mucho Bravado, and a management workshop from Fans Creative Management. In addition to these top prizes, there will be rewards of $1000 cash for acts that excel in songwriting, performance, stage presence and audience participation.
The event will be presided over by a judging panel of local music legends and professionals, who will also be providing feedback and advice to competing musicians, regardless of their level of success in the competition.
After four heats categorised by genre (Indie, Metal, Rock and Punk-Ska), the judges have announced the successful acts that will compete in the finals. Semi-final 1 took place this past Wednesday night, featuring local acts Soul Solitude, Steele, Jamie Hogg and Former Angels. Semi-final 2 will be held on Wednesday August 26th, featuring Yellowcatred, Dark Relic, Common Deers and Columbia Calling. The judging panel for the evening will be Stacey Coleman (Q Music), Tony Vollmerhause (4ZZZ) and Lucy Collier (Alphabetics).
The Homegrown Grand Final will be held on Wednesday 2nd September and could see the launch of the next big Brisbane act.
