NEWS: Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker and Mark Ronson collab
English producer Mark Ronson’s upcoming fourth studio album, Uptown Special, looks set to have a distinctly Australian touch to it, with news that Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker has collaborated on a number of tracks for the LP.
Perth-born Parker is reportedly providing drums, guitar backing, and background vocals, in addition to being the feature for three tracks; the first, Daffodils, dropped earlier this week. The track, an interesting and addictive blend of Tame Impala‘s psych melodies and the funk and groove-inspired Ronson sound, is the second track from the album to drop just this week.
The lyrics for Parker’s trippy features weren’t written by the man himself, with Pulitzer Prize-winning author Michael Chabon oddly providing the lyrics for the majority of the LP.
In true Ronson fashion, Parker is part of a who’s who of feature guests, which this time includes fellow producer and DJ Hudson Mohawke, Miike Snow vocalist Andrew Wyatt and Bruno Mars, who contributed vocals to Uptown Funk, the first official single to be revealed a few days ago.
Mark Ronson’s Uptown Special is released in Australia January 30th next year.
